And the word of the year is...

I like to take my Decembers with a healthy dose of introspection and reflection. I think it’s important to look back on the year and take note of the patterns both broken and created, the achievements reached and missed - the kisses and the kicks, if you will. I also like to take some time to think of what I’d like to accomplish in the coming year and name it. I don’t do resolutions in the typical sense, but I like to choose a word that I can use as a lighthouse throughout the year. Sometimes the word and year flow together nicely, in others it can be a bit off base. Then there was 2018; the year of no word at all. At least not until now. Better late than never, right?

You see, 2017 was a year of complete chaos. Personally, professionally, mentally and physically, it seemed that year was difficult on every single front. So as the year wound down, I found myself just trying to hold on until the calendar rolled over to a clean slate. I had no energy for anything else, including my typical end-of-year wrap-up and dream sesh. But if 2017 could be defined as 12 months of treading water, 2018 was the year the levee broke. Everything changed. Everything. Where I had previously felt stuck suddenly things were moving fast, in some cases too fast. I had two choices: resist or follow the flow.

For most of this year, I’ve been hanging on to my seat and staying open and curious about where this journey may take me. So many amazing things have happened this year that have changed every single part of me. My perspective has changed. My motivation has changed. My ability to say a resounding “YES!” or a firm and definite “NO.” has changed. I feel more like myself than I have in years, and yet I also feel like a completely different person. I feel awake. My creativity and intuition are both in overdrive and I’m just trying to keep up.

At this point, it is clear to me that the word of 2018 has been transformation, whether I selected it or not. When I look back, the beginning of this year feels like a lifetime ago. What. A. Year. What a gift!

I’m not done reflecting on 2018 just yet, I’m not done planning for 2019 either, but the picture is becoming clearer each day. So while I’m not ready to announce all of the details just yet, I can give you a sneak peek of what that means for Epiphanie Interiors and the ways we can work together in the coming year:

• All of the work that I do will be heart-focused.

If you are thinking to yourself, “Hasn’t that been your goal all along?” the answer is yes. But I have a much clearer idea of what this heart-focused work will look like now, and I’m excited to share more about that in an upcoming post.

• There will be more ways for us to work together.

Live outside of the Black Hills? No problem. Do you have an idea in mind for your project, but you’re hung up on one particular sticking point or you just need another perspective? Got you covered there too. There will be a new menu of options for projects large and small, near and far in the coming weeks.

• Opportunities to treat yourself to luxuries.

Soon, you will be able to shop some of our exclusive lines right here on the website! This particular project has been a long time coming and I can’t wait to be able to share the shop page with you. To start, the shop will offer accessory items as well as some pretty fabulous hostess (or treat yourself!) gift options. Every home deserves a little luxury and some special moments, and I hope this shop will allow you to add that feeling to your own home whether you are doing a complete remodel or you are just itching for a little refresh.

I am so excited to share this journey with you, and I’m so grateful to have you along on this ride. If you are interested or inspired to do your own year-end recap and New Year dream day, Alexandra Franzen has a list of five questions to get you started. I’m curious, do you set any goals for your year? Choose a word or feeling? Do tell! I’d love to be inspired by your goals and help cheer you along too! :)
